From the Pastor's Desk

Insights from Bishop W. Michael Fields

Bishop Fields’ desire is to disciple believers that walk with the Lord on a daily basis.  He writes a weekly address to the congregation called, “From The Pastor’s Desk.”  These writings encourage the Church to walk with Christ through the daily dilemmas in life.

Words to live by -  from a Pastor's Desk

And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb. And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

1 Samuel 1:4-6

In reading this particular scripture, I could not help but notice that Hannah’s barreness is ascribed directly to the activity of God. He purposely withheld children from her to prepare her for the birth of her son Samuel. I was deeply moved and encouraged by this because it reminded me that God, at times may cause us to experience disappointments or lead us into situations, in which we will feel inadequate or inferior just so He can work out His will in our lives.

We can all use Hannah as an example and do as she did – take our situations and hurts directly to the Lord and WAIT ON HIM.

My final thought is something the Lord just dropped in my spirit for someone listening today…
